A great location with a few attractive shops, delightful restaurants and a great friendly atmosphere. The beach at Cala D’Hort is an expanse of sand and pebbles with crystal clear water. The views from the beach to the islands of Es Vedra and Vedranell are spectacular. Es Vedra has been the source of local legends and many reports of UFO sightings throughout the years. The island was featured in the film “South Pacific” as the mysterious island of “Bali Hai”. Its other claim to fame it appeared on the cover of the Mike Oldfield album “Tubular Bells II” in fact the musician lived opposite the island until the 1990’s. Es Vedra is inhabited only by wild goats and a colony of endangered species of Eleanor’s falcon which can often been seen swooping around the island.

A small and undeveloped cove beach, reached by a winding road signposted off the main San Antonio-Santa Agnes road. Whilst only 5 kms from San Antonio it is another world away from the hustle and bustle. Turquoise water laps the fine 100m strip of pale sand, which also has a low rocky shelf, which is ideal for sunbathing. A few fishing huts and a simple seafood restaurant are all to be found here. When the sun sets you can catch an unparallel vista of the outlines of the small islands of Conillera and Bosc. Just 1/2km inland from Salada a signposted dirt track directs you to Cova de la Fontanelles named “Cave of the springs” from the spring water that used to bubble up from the cliffs. Although the cave is fenced it is still possible to view some of the only ancient petroglyphs in the area. San Rafael, Ibiza, Balearics, Spain
A hilltop village almost in the centre between Ibiza Town and San Antonio. approx 8 kms to each. A small collection of shops, cafes and restaurants can be found on the high road. Several ceramic workshops have awarded the village the title of “zona de interes artesanal “ or artisan zone. Perhaps the nicest part of the village is centred around the church which dates back to circa 1786. It is typically Ibizan with whitewashed walls approx 1 metre thick, which can be seen from miles around. The view from the churchyard to Dalt Vila and the sea is simply stunning. Perhaps the modern claim to fame for this area are the huge infamous clubs of “Privilege” and “Amnesia” which are on the main highway between Ibiza and San Antonio below the village.

San Vicente, Ibiza, Balearics, Spain
The drive to Cala San Vicente on the coastal road north of Aigues Blanques is perhaps one of the most magnificent in Ibiza. The village of San Vicente is 3km up the valley from the coast on the road to St Joan. As Ibiza’s smallest village, it boasts only a handful of houses and a village church and a small bar. Cala San Vicente has a beach of golden sand and some of the best swimming in the area. You will often see beautiful boats moored in the bay. A reasonable selection of shops and restaurants. From the shoreline a paved road heads inland up to the signposted path for Cova des Cuieram which was a site of worship in Carthaginian times. It is a walk of perhaps 15 minutes through dense forest to reach the mouth of the cave. When it was discovered in 1907 hundreds of terracotta images of the fertility goddess were unearthed here. Unfortunately, the cave is now closed off as it is deemed dangerous, but the views are breathtaking.

Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza, Balearics, Spain
Lovely rural village in the centre of the island, 11 kms from Ibiza Town which would take only 15-20 minutes to drive - enjoy the best of both worlds! The area has long been a mecca for artists and you will find local galleries. There are some boutiques style shops and even an auction house Casa Todo where a monthly auction provides great entertainment. Santa Gertrudis has long been a fruit growing area and evidence of this background can been viewed in the decorated ceiling in the Esglesia de Santa Gertrudis.
The local café-bars in the town are popular with locals and tourists alike to while away a few hours watching the world pass by the street side terraces. Ideal for lunch.

As Ibiza is a fairly small island, everything is accessible from most locations, we have mentioned the above main towns above where most facilities are available. The local towns tend to offer a supermarket, a café or bar, convenient for smaller items or a quick lunch.
